Hello to all,

Just wanted to introduce myself, as I've just bought ISO 855 after a few years sailing a Dart 18.

I'm sailing out of Stokes Bay in Gosport.

Been out once so far and not got the Kite up yet!
Not because I'm a coward, just found that some parts are missing on my boat - made the mistake of not rigging it before I bought it plus its a lot more complicated to rig than the Dart.

Anyway, looking forward to getting the boat sorted out and a Summer of learning to tame an asymmetric misile.

Welcome to the class Oli. There are plenty of people around the Solent area who know how to rig ISO's. Also, as I'm sure you are now aware, there are plenty of help guides on this website for class members.

Thanks guys, this class has a reputation for friendly members and I can see its true.
I am missing the mainsheet cleat and guide, also the double block which forms part of the kicker. Is it the 20mm Ronstan as bellow:

or the 30mm?

Which cleat and guide do I order for the mainsheet from the rooster website? There are no other ISOs at Stokes Bay so can't take a look.

I don't seem to have a downhaul either, could anybody point me in the right direction with this?

How do you attach the tack of the jib to the forestay?

Final question for now! How long should the mainsheet be?

Hi Oli,
The double block is the 30mm. Although there are no restrictions on blocks (See class rule 3(i), the floating double block in the cascade will be the 30mm.

The cleat will be a Ronstan Medium cleat From Rooster
You will also need a top fairled for it.

Downhaul is made of 19mm ish blocks. See pics here...

The ISO doesn't have a need for a forestay, so remove it from the mast as it can be a snagging risk. To help stablise the mast on the shore, use a rop attached to the jib halyard and pull a little tension on it.

The jib tack attaches direct to the space frame See pic of 1013's bow:

(The two bits of black rope on the left of the spinnaker chute mouth, are painter rope that is attached to the trolley.) When taking jib off, untie the tack line else you will force a crease into the jib when the wire naturally twists as you roll the jib.

Mainsheet - 8mm diameter NO BIGGER, and about 8.5 meters. Rope guide here.... It needs to be long enough so that when the boom is on the shroud, you can comfortably stand up in the middle of the boatd and hold the end of the mainsheet. (Yes we stand up a lot in the ISO - we don't do crawling around.)

Sorry for the late response, I've just come back from a long holiday. A big thank you to those who responded, especially Pete - that message must have taken you some time but it really helped me to buy what I needed. I was at the club for safety boat duty on the weekend and noticed another ISO has turned up, which will be great for me to get these new bits sorted. I plan to get out on the water this week, can't wait.

We hope to see you and the other Stokes Bay ISO, at the Nationals this year. They are at Lee on Solent SC, so should be ideal for you!
