Hi Visitor, With the helpful fact the clocks jumped forwards an hour the other week, we now have more useful daylight hours to play with. We can now remove the nav lights from the ISO rigging and sail whilst being able to see where we are going!
2011 Dinghy Show - Our Best Yet!:
The RYA 2011 Dinghy Show was over the 1st weekend in March as usual, 5th and 6th.
Our stand was right next to our main supplier, Rooster Sailing, and showed Tinky Winky resplendent in the new Rooster Sails, together with Rooster foil bags and the winners of the 2010 / 11 ISO Photo Competition. Read more on the website here >>>>
2011 Fixtures:
We have a huge fixture list this year, well that's what it looks like, but if you examine it carefully, and utilize the filter options, you will see that the events are divied up into categories and spread more widely over the UK. There is even an option to view the events on a map. Fixtures Map Here >>>
Viewing the main fixtures table, there is a vauge bit of text just above the table "Toggle Filters" click this to filter the fixture list, or click the links on the actual event types or names in the list.
First Event - ISO Training:
Italian ISO Class training this weekend at Laveno, Lake Maggiore, being presented by Chairman Bob. It's still very cold around Maggiore due to the Alps and all that snow skiers like so much. 10 ISOs and 3 Buzz expected to attend and be put through their paces, you remember, all that 10 tacks, 10 gybes boat handling stuff that few of us ever set time aside to practice. Our Italian friends openly admit to being fair weather sailors so if they can get out in their cold continental climate then we Brits should be able to get a load of boats out in our much milder weather. They'll be ready for the Eurocup in Quiberon, will you ? 20 boats for KGSC next weekend ??
Second Event - Racing!:
The second event for 2011 is at King George SC (Enfield, North London), EVENT DETAILS HERE >>> If you are coming, please log in to the site and fill in the unofficial entry form on the event page. The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions are on the page awaiting your perusal.
KGSC looking forward to welcoming the ISO, Buzz and Alto fleets next weekend, 9th and 10th April. We have water, butties, beer and a good dose of that KGSC welcome. Need a crew ? Need a helm ? Got a spare boat to bring along ? Can find you people to fill all those roles and add to the on water entertainment, so come on down the water's only wet !!
Phone a friend – get them on the water this weekend........ and next.......
Training @ Bexhill:
It has been confirmed that there will be a one day training day at Bexhill on the south coast on the 4th June. It will be free to all ISO class members. Further details to follow and will of course be on the Bexhill Training event page >>>.
Training Up North?
If you would like an ISO class training day up north or more in your area, please do ask for it. Don't be disgruntled that we only ever do things in the larger top shandy south where drysuits are worn in summer (yes I am from up north originally), please speak up and we'll look to get things arranged for you.
Prestwick Reggatta:
7th May there is a nice northern event at Prestwick. I've raced there personally and found it to be a great stretch of water with a very welcoming club personnel. Attached is an event poster. Further details on the event page of the ISO website >>>
Website:
The website has had a little downtime recently, firstly due to a little maintenance, then last weekend a slight technical hitch. All is sorted and running smoothly now though - I think!
To keep the website fresh, we are always on the lookout for new articles, photo's, reports etc. If you have been to a sailing event recently - even if you were the only ISO there, or you went on a sailing holiday, attended the dinghy show, or had a technical tweak moment, send in a little report with any pics and we'll get it on the website for you.
Rooster News:
New Rooster sails and rudder stock being checked out this weekend by the Tech Team down at Emsworth Slipper. Further details to follow and will be put on the website when received.
That's all for now folks.
Happy Sailing!
