Spreaders, pretty important. Get it wrong and it can make sailing the ISO a bit of a pig. Get them right and not only is the boat easier to handle, but they will make the boat go faster in the right direction!
We unwrapped a brand new mast for the 2010 nationals and put my spreaders as per the pics below. Annie and myself are short flyweights in the ISO class (56kg crew, 73kg helm = 129kg all up). The weather was sunny force 3 - 4 both days. We could point when required and had speed through the chop (if we remembered to ease the sails when we hit some nasty chop that is). Also remember the barbers have a massive effect on speed, but we are not talking barbers here (which for us were set at....

To assist in the righting of your now capsized ISO, you require a rope to hold so you can lean back to give extra leaverage. With the idea below, you won't have to lean over the top of the boat to get a rope to use as a righting line. This way, the line is already for you to grab, and as an added bonus, makes you much more stable standing on the board than with a single rope.

How much to pull the barbers on is a question that most people ask. The answer depends upon the weather conditions, but usually the answer is don't pull them on too hard. Light winds, the barbers should be off, then as the wind increases, they should be pulled on to a max of about 4", then as the wind increases to constant overpowering, they should be eased off again.
