The Reason

I have always hated the ISO dagger board, mainly due to its weight. On talking to some 49er people at my club. I found out that their boards are now up to a mark three dagger board, and as they are custom fit to the boat, there are spare old boards around.

Just a quick update on the Rooster sails that Mark and I have been using as much as possible to try and iron out any problems. We are very happy with the appearance and think you will all agree they look great. As we haven't used the Hyde's it has taken a bit to get used to, especially the Main and with the modern shape they take a bit of tweaking. We have had an Olympic Coach out with us to get his input and maybe a few tips for us!

Hi Pete

Sorry I have not got back to you, I’ve have been away. Anyway I have put some thoughts together.

49er Daggerboard

With the cassette I made. I was able to make sure the board is lined up within the boat. Also there is no gasket, this makes the board very ridged in the boat, which you can feel on the helm.

The first time I used it was in a good force 3/4. The boat felt stiffer and seemed to accelerate better, over all it felt smoother. With no other boats racing of similar performance it was hard to judge if it was faster.
